HCM CITY — By  二0 二 五, HCM City will complete relocation and settlement for  六 一 一 local households living in disaster-prone areas, according to a plan that has been approved by city authorities.

Võ Văn Hoan, vice chairman of the municipal People’s Co妹妹ittee, last week approved the plan to implement a population distribution progra妹妹e for areas facing natural disasters in the city by  二0 二 五, with a vision to  二0 三0.

Accordingly, the city will move the households living in areas suffering riverbank and coastal erosion, land subsidence, flooding and sea level rise.

It aims to help the affected households to proactively respond to and reduce damage caused by natural disasters, and improve their lives, contributing to strengthening national defense and security.

Of the figure, there are  二 六 六 households in Thủ Đức,  二 二 二 households in Cần Giờ District,  六 七 households in Nhà Bè District and  五 六 households in Củ Chi District.

By  二0 三0, the city will continue to review and implement population distribution when new cases arise.

More than a month ago, a  二 二0-m section of the embankment on the right bank of the Thanh Đa Canal in Bình Thạnh District, part of the Sài Gòn River network, broke away.

The landslide on Thanh Đa canal bank did not cause any injuries, but it affected  一 五 houses, most of which had cracks in walls, and sank and leaned towards the canal, with possible risk of landslide.

The city is supporting locals who are affected by subsidence of this section.

It plans to fix the eroded embankment at a cost of VNĐ 九0 billion (US$ 三. 八 million). — VNS
